The Boy who Cried Wolf at the Bar

Was sharing the well known story of the Boy who Cried Wolf with a friend over a drink at a hidden bar.

We all understand the morale of the story and the repercussions of lying, but our understanding of lying (or not lying), is an external act, directed towards the people outside of ourselves.

And how sad it is, that in reality, it is ourselves instead that we lie to, ever so often!

We lie to ourselves to convince us that the decisions that we make are out of our control, that we lie to make others feel better, that we lie solely for the benefit of others.

The unfortunate truth is that we often lie to make ourselves feel better (what irony!), to spend less time and effort to ponder over the difficult choices, and to find the easy way out.

Lying is very often mis-used as a means of escape.
To escape the ability to respond.

Thank you, Sam, for your time to share a couple of shots and a meaningful conversation on the topic of being truthful to one self.

The pleasure has been all mine.

The spectrum of grey in us, has never been wider.
Let us both work towards understanding ourselves a little more, a little better, each moment, one day at a time.

干杯!
