The Lady in Love with High Heel Shoes

"Why does my back hurt all the time?", she questioned Doctor Steve. No doctors could heal her longstanding back pains, which Florence had endured for numerous painful years.

It was with a stroke of luck that Florence met Doctor Steve, through her perseverance to cure her back troubles. Florence was overjoyed that her pain was finally eradicated, with the therapy which Doctor Steve provided.

But without any warning, Doctor Steven vanished, un-contactable by any means. Rumours have it that Doctor Steven had joined an United Nations Corp, travelling to the most rural of places, caring and curing for the under privileged.

The devastated Florence had her painful back re-visit her again, and is now mostly confined within the four walls of her apartment, not being able stride confidently in her favourite high heel shoes to the outside world.

Days turning to months without her favourite heels had caused Florence to spiral into the depths of unhappiness. All she could reminiscence was how happy she was when she wore high heels wherever she went, even within her apartment, unless she was in bed.

Throughout this painful period, where Florence stayed indoors and had no opportunity to flaunt her high heel shoes to the world, she moved around barefoot or in flat-soled shoes.

Over time, Florence noticed that her back pain started to ease and the pain was subsiding with every passing day.

It finally struck her that the high heel shoes which she so loved, was never well-suited for her; it was probably also the cause of her long-term back pain. Her flat-soled shoes which she always had but felt bland and small in, was actually more befitting to her lifestyle and health.

We sometimes do not really know what suits us best, and always ignorantly chasing for the things that every one else wants, with repercussions which we have to pay a huge price for.

In Florence's story, she was blessed with pain. If only she was less stubborn to blindly feed her ego and more aware of what truly matters, she would have to endure much less pain in her earlier years.

But it was also pain that made her learn the most important lesson of all:

We are all unique and different, and we have to learn to embrace it with awareness and acceptance.
